About this event

Join the SD Statewide Family Engagement Center on a journey to learn about trauma in children, how it affects brain development and behavior, and how to implement trauma-informed practices into your work and your environment. This 5.5-hour learning day will be beneficial to educators, childcare providers, and anyone who works with children.

NOTE: Be sure to check the training location for each date before registering.

Sessions:

  • PIERRE: Tuesday, March 8 | SD State Library Commons | 9:30 AM-4 PM CST
  • SIOUX FALLS: Tuesday, March 22 | Falls Overlook Cafe | 9:30 AM-4 PM CDT
  • RAPID CITY: Tuesday, May 3 | TIE Office | 9:30 AM-4 PM MDT

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will have a better understanding of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
  2. Participants will learn and share strategies to build positive relationships with students and respond to behaviors associated with dysregulation.
  3. Participants will reflect on how to implement their learning and gain confidence to be a leader in trauma responsiveness at school, at work, or in the community.

5.5 continuing education contact hours will be offered for this training.
